The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) is committed to the spiritual and social transformation of our people at all levels. Therefore, as part of the church’s social responsibilities towards our communities and nation at large, the “ICGC Clean Water Project” was launched by Dr. Otabil in November 2008.
The project is aimed at providing some underserved communities in the country with good drinking water and is being executed in phases. The first phase of the project involved the construction of 20 boreholes fitted with hand-pumps in 19 communities (with an estimated total population of over 12,000 inhabitants) in the Ga West Municipal Area. It cost Two Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 200,000.00)
The beneficiary communities were Atoman, Kokoman, Aborborkodzi, Pobiman, Sapeiman, Onyaben, Ayikai Doblo Jeda, Achiaman, Atsiato, Ayawaso, Ablorman, Wozoamekope. Kuntunse, Achiato No. 2, John Teye, Mieso, Magbo, Xedagbuikope and Aborkope.
The provision of the boreholes in these communities, some of which are located in buruli ulcer endemic areas with others having high levels of iron in their groundwater resources, has impacted positively on the lives of the people with significant improvement in their social, economic and health status.
