An awesome night with an unusual experience was the spectacle at the Accra Sports Stadium as people from all walks of life, joined Pastor Mensa Otabil to usher in 2012, “Our Year of Purity”.

Pastor Otabil in his opening exhortation thanked God for His mercy and faithfulness that has kept the nation in peace and prayed for His continuous blessings for the years ahead.

He admonished Christians to dedicate their lives to God to fill them afresh with His Holy Spirit so as to live victorious lives in our year of Purity.

Pastor Otabil intimated that God was going to fulfill His promises to Ghana and the rest of Africa if we walk in purity. Also, we must develop a character that builds a nation. There was the need for us to make conscious effort to pray to God to grant us the grace to live a holy and acceptable life to overcome our wrong and sinful habits.

God creates a clean heart but we must commit ourselves to develop a clean thought”, he stated.

He reiterated that God expects us to walk in purity in the following areas of our lives.

• Clean/ Pure heart

• Clean thoughts

• Clean hands

2012 is the year of PURITY. I want each of us to pledge to serve God with a CLEAN HEART, CLEAN THOUGHTS and CLEAN HANDS. Let us allow Jesus to be the CENTRE of our lives”, he noted.

He assured Christians that Ghana will experience peace before, during and after the 2012 General Elections.

According Pastor Otabil, the successes chalked so far should rather give us hope that with little nationalistic efforts, the 2012 General Elections would pass unnoticed – it would be event-free without generating into a conflict as experienced by Ghana’s neighbouring countries.

He therefore called on  all peace-loving Ghanaians to remain resolute and disabuse their minds from any panic feelings.

I think that we have failed to accept our own maturity, our own growth, our systems are getting better and better, the people are becoming more discerning, the politicians are coming to terms with the reality that power is transient that they can be voted in and out of power. We have done well over the years and we shouldn’t devalue what we have done. We should be grateful for the lessons we’ve learnt and we shouldn’t become panicky, I think elections have become normal in our national lif and there is nothing to panic about. The faithful God will see us through and we’re going to have a very smooth process and we will be fine”, he stated.

“God will give us peace; don’t let your heart fret. It’s well with Ghana. It’s well with our destiny.  God has started right with us and will surely end right us with. Let’s live right before Him. The time to transform Africa is now!!!, he concluded.

An altar call was made to win souls for Christ after which an Anointing Service was held for the impartation of enablement for purity.

It was a watch night service like no other as the joyous crow was led in praise and worship by Prince Aggrey, Rev. Josh Laryea, Ike Nanor, Gideon  Ahia and Edwin Dadson backed by the  Christ Temple Mass Choir.

“Spirit” of the Dramatic Arts Ministry and New Edition of Christ Temple ministered to the people.

Rev. Kofi Okyere was the Mc for the night.
